Have you ever been in a race series where it's 70 degrees for one race and then 30 degrees for another?  You could be running through Overton Park on a sunny day for the 3K and then sloshing through thick muddy trails of Stanky Creek with rain pelting you in the face for the 8K.  You just never know!  And that is what is one of the many features of the MRTC Winter Cross Country Race Series.

For 2012 we are honored to have Outdoors Inc. as our presenting sponsor and Bluff City Sports as a supporting sponsor.  Outdoors Inc. truly represents their motto "Get Outdoors" and that's what this series is all about...getting outdoors, enjoying and respecting our environment.

Registration  - 4 ways to register
  • Online registration - we encourage you to register online
  • A printable application is available through the online process, just fill out the information on the screens and you'll get to a point where you can print off the registration form and send it in with your check.  But hurry!
  • Packet pick-up days - you can also register for the series or any of the individual races during packet-up sessions.  Come see us and we'll get you squared away.
  • Day of race - I can't stress enough how busy the day of race registration (and pre-registration) tables get, so I strongly discourage this option.  However, we will be at the race starting at Noon for anyone that needs to register.  REGISTRATION AND PRE-REGISTERED CHIP/BIB PICK-UP CLOSE AT 1:30PM.

Race Timing Information - the WCCRS is chip timed

1. Register early! Be sure to watch our web site OR friend us on Facebook for the pre-race packet pick-up days to keep the day of race confusion to a minimum.
2. If you forget your chip for a race you can "rent" one for the day for an additional $10.00.  Bring cash!
4. If the chip is lost forever a replacement can be purchased for an additional $30.00.
5.Race day registration/pre-registration chip/bib pick-up will close by 1:30pm in order for us to get everyone into the computer.
Goodies
  • Everyone will receive a long sleeved Zorrel t-shirt.  If you're registering for a single race we may not have your preferred size available.
  • Every finisher of the 8+K will receive a "I SURVIVED STANKY CREEK" hand towel, which will come in handy if the trails are muddy or if the creek is up.
Awards

A points system will be used for both Overall and Age Group awards for the 4-race series. There are no awards for individual races.

The awards go 3-deep in Overall Open, 3-deep in Masters, 1-deep in Grand Masters, 1-deep in Senior Master and 3-deep in age groups.  Fast runners can miss a race and still (possibly) qualify for an award, depending on the competition.  Ties will be broken based on the best performance in the longest race.  All decisions made by MRTC will be final.

Awards are distributed out at the March Quarterly Members Meeting and Spring Mile at Rhodes College.

WAIVER:  Part of the registration form, the verbiage includes the following:  I know that running a race is a potentially hazardous activity which could cause injury or death.
